This June, Western University hosted the Laurentian SETAC’s 30th anniversary conference. The conference, for which Ecometrix is a silver sponsor, was committed to promoting and enhancing the communication, education, and networking of ecotoxicology and chemistry in Ontario and beyond.

For this year’s edition, Andrea Amendola, our toxicologist and risk assessor, joined forces with Dr. Lara Alves Beese from Dillon Consulting to deliver a short course on toxicity assessment in environmental risk assessment. More specifically, it focused on its role in estimating potential risks to human ecological health as well as key methods for deriving toxicity-based benchmarks and toxicity reference values.

Participants also gained an understanding of how toxicity assessment integrates into the broader risk assessment process, and everything was supported with practical examples.
