Ecometrix at CIM Connect 2024

On May 11, our Senior Environmental Scientist Dr. Derek Hillis will deliver a short course at the Vancouver Convention Centre on occupational noise assessments.

Event date Saturday, May 11, 2024
Event location Vancouver Convention Centre

The course, titled Occupational Noise Assessments – Theory and Practical Applications, is designed to provide a foundational understanding of the properties, health effects, and regulatory environment of noise, as well as the information required to complete a thorough and useful noise exposure assessment.

In addition to those principles, it will explore how data collected from a noise exposure assessment can be used for predictive evaluations.

It comes at a time when noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) claims between 2006 and 2015 accounted for almost 25% of all allowed occupational disease claims in Ontario. This course will dig into the science and properties of collected noise measurements and how they can be used to refine hearing conservation programs and controls.

Designed for safety engineers, health and safety coordinators, human resources professionals, and design and process engineers, Dr. Derek Hillis will take an interactive approach to the course, hosting break-out sessions to practice and apply the insights shared.
