Witty Lai has a B. Eng, in Nuclear Engineering, from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, and is currently pursuing her M.Eng at the University of Toronto. She has over four years of nuclear industry experience with Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL). During her time at AECL, Witty was involved in pre-project environmental studies for domestic and international new build CANDU reactor projects, environmental modelling for reactor sites, environmental studies of uranium and thorium fuel life cycles, and the preparation of the Environmental Impact Statement for the decommissioning of a SLOWPOKE-2 reactor. Witty is also familiar with various aspects of radiological waste storage and disposal. She is currently in the process of obtaining her professional engineering licence, and expects to have the designation in 2012.
