Joe Tetreault’s presentation, coauthored by Rob Eakins, highlighted the challenges and rewards associated with conducting traditional fisheries surveys in South America. Drawing upon our experiences in Peru over the past decade, we discuss not only the logistical considerations, but the lack of resources available to help to identify your catch. Working in Peru often involves travelling to remote locations, seeing some unique sights and meeting many interesting people.
