Carolyn Brown participated in Portlands Energy Centre’s 8th Annual Open House (in partnership with Doors Open Toronto), on May 27th. More than 800 guests were welcomed to the site this year. The community was invited to tour the inside of the plant and water treatment area, as well as the naturalized gardens, meadows and beehives. An “info tent” allowed visitors to talk with staff, community partners, and supporting vendors about PEC’s operational systems and environmental initiatives.
Carolyn displayed two posters, “Monitoring and Mitigation E. coli in Toronto Harbour” and “Impingement and Entrainment at the Portlands Energy Centre” and spoke with interested members of the community about the work that EcoMetrix has undertaken on behalf of PEC to help protect Cherry Beach and the aquatic environment.
